YouTube singer/songwriter Hannah Trigwell chats to Your Future Mixtape
Good morning! I have an exclusive interview for you all to get stuck into. Yesterday, Your Future Mixtape had a chat with YouTube singer/songwriter Hannah Trigwell about what 2016 has in-store for her, so grab a cuppa, get comfy and enjoy!
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself (for those who don’t know you)?
I’m a UK songwriter and singer who plays guitar and drinks an excessive amount of tea! I upload videos of my live performance and behind the scenes tour footage to YouTube – views have nearly reached 50 million which is pretty amazing! I love touring, but when I’m not doing that I can be found in the studio writing music or messing about with my camera.
You’ve done some amazing covers over the years. Which is your favourite to perform live on stage?
Cover wise, I like playing Sam Smith ‘Stay With Me’ that song is just so right for my vocals, it’s right in the sweet spot of my falsetto, and it’s such an emotional song so I really get into it when I perform. Original music-wise I have to say at the moment it is a new song I co-wrote with Corey Fox-Fardell called ‘Another Beautiful Mistake’.
I remember seeing you live when you supported Boyce Avenue a few years ago, along with watching some collaborations on YouTube. Do you still keep in contact with the guys?
Those videos are special to me. The guys are my friends, we are still in contact – but it’s hard being in different time zones! Touring with Boyce Avenue was definitely a lot of fun.
I saw you were mentioned in a recent edition of Fabulous. How does it feel being recognised by such a popular magazine?
It’s a great feeling! Something to show my parents/grandkids in the future haha. It was cool to be in a national magazine that I’ve read before – things like that are always a little surreal. I feel like 2016 will be a big year for me, so I’m just really excited about everything to come, and being tipped for 2016 is a great way to start!
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
I would love to collaborate with Ed Sheeran, I think he’s a great songwriter. Also Imogen Heap, she’s so creative and inspiring, it would be a dream to work with her. I saw her on tour a couple of years ago and it was totally mesmerising, she’s a true artist.
Tricky question, but do you have an all-time favourite song?
I have quite a few! At the moment the song that really gets me emotional is ‘When We Were Young’ by Adele. An older one would be ‘Easy Lover’ by Phil Collins.
Can we find you on tour any time soon?
I am touring in the UK and Europe over the next couple of months! And then I have some super exciting tour news… but that has to wait for now! 😉
Ah no fair, we’ll just have to wait! What can we expect from you in 2016?
New music, touring, new behind the scenes stuff and more YouTube videos. I always want to make the videos to keep everyone updated, it’s how it all started after all, I wouldn’t ever want to loose that side of the connection I have with people who listen to me. It is an amazing thing!
